Carpe Diem Volleyball Philosophy

During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.  When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified.  "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.  But Jesus immediately said to them: "take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."  "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."  "Come," he said.  Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"  Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.  "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"  And then they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.  Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God.".

·        We believe in the potential of young people.

·        We believe the disciplines learned in volleyball will benefit players for their entire lives.

·        We believe the opportunities for young people are endless. It’s up to each individual person to put forth the effort needed to achieve their goals and dreams.

·        We believe in respect.

·        We believe in the importance of family.

·        We believe the biggest failure is in not trying in the first place.

·        We believe in pushing players in a positive way, allowing them to see that they are capable of reaching higher than they think.

·        We believe each day is a gift, and as such encourage all players to take advantage of each daily opportunity.

·        We believe in taking care of our bodies, and refraining from doing anything that may harm them.

·        We train players to press on toward the goal; work hard, be patient, and keep focused on the reward ahead of them.

·        We raise up the value of differences: if everyone is a great hitter but we had no setter, where would be the good? If everyone is a great digger but we have no hitters, how would that benefit anyone?

·        Knowledge is attained through books. Wisdom is attained by doing.

·        Whatever you do, work at it with ALL your heart.

·        We instill personal responsibility in each player.

·        We inspire an ‘I can’ attitude and expect nothing less.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3: 23-24
